The kick-off for the first performance dedicated to world music is given by Efkan Sesen.

Efkan Sesen comes from Artvin in Northern Turkey near the Black Sea. Between 1987 and 1991 he was the lead singer of the famous band Grup Yorum, which sang politically critical lyrics that landed some members in prison. In 1991 Efkan decided to go solo.

The Black Sea has always had a great influence on his lyrics. He has lived in the Netherlands since 2016, currently in Steenwijk. He usually makes music with his wife Didar Sesen and his son Sinan, who studies jazz at Codarts in Rotterdam. They are now working on a new album!
